Example Itinerary

Here is an example itinerary we’ve made for you to see just some of the joys of the UK’s Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the things you can expect to see and do during your Safari Stay.

Day 1: Arrive in Hursley

Although technically not classified as an AONB, this landscape rich in folklore and legend has inspired generations of writers, artists and storytellers who have flocked to witness the beauty of the rolling chalk downland and the wooded heaths of the National Park.
Perfect for walkers, the national park is known for its various trails such as the South Downs Way, Centurion Way, Meon Valley Trail and the Serpent Trail.

Day 2: Hursley > Kintbury

This ancient landscape is etched by the impact of humans for over 5,000 years, including fascinating features such as the World Heritage Site at Avebury, 8 Chalk White Horses, Savernake Forest, Highclere Castle, historic market towns and the Kennet & Avon Canal. For walkers, it is the perfect location for day trips; the climbs are not too strenuous, but the views are very dramatic.

Day 3: Kintbury > Chieveley

A hop, skip and a jump across The Thames from The Crab & Boar is the Chiltern Hills; 324 square miles of countryside whose character has been shaped by people for centuries. Attractive villages with brick and flint cottages nestle in quiet valleys. Use the interactive map on the Chiltern Hills’ website to discover hundred’s of walks.
